Founded in 1947, E.F. Brewer Company began its operation as a custom tube fabricator constructing components a
nd products for a wide range of industrial and consumer applications. In the mid 1950's, Brewer introduced stools and dining tables featuring chrome tube bases and legs made especially for the popular diners of the time. Over the next 3 decades, E. F. Brewer manufactured a wide variety of products - lawn mowers, portable scooters, and bassinets to name a few - which were replaced as Brewer's focus shifted to healthcare.
In the mid 1960's, the company introduced a comprehensive line of products for the medical market including, seating, step stools, IV poles, hampers, and instrument trays that became the basis for today's healthcare focus. Many of these products remain an important part of the product portfolio to this day.
In the 1980's, Brewer entered the dental market with the acquisition of Del-Tube Corporation. Del-Tube's dental seating products complemented Brewer's medical seating lines and leveraged its design and manufacturing expertise. The Del-Tube name was subsequently merged into the Brewer brand name in the mid 1990's. It was at this time that E. F. Brewer was renamed The Brewer Company.
In 1996, Brewer embarked upon a business development strategy centered on our expertise in complex upholstery and seating design and manufacturing. Our focus was and is on healthcare Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) serving the medical and dental markets.
In 1999, Brewer acquired Healthcare Lighting and in 2001 launched the first in its line of innovative examination tables. Brewer quickly gained market share. Since 2001, Brewer has continued to design and manufacture exam table products with customer needs in mind. Our award winning exam and power table lines were the 1st in the industry to introduce the important features you find today, such as: pass-through storage drawers, large steps, low wheelchair accessible heights, and higher weight capacities. Brewer examination tables focus on new technology and unique features that increase the safety, efficiency, and comfort for both patients and clinicians in the healthcare environment.
In 2004, Brewer formed two Strategic Business Units: Brewer Medical and Brewer Design to better serve our customers. Each business unit is focused on its respective customers, distribution channels, and related design and manufacturing requirements.
Brewer Medical leads the industry in innovation through our comprehensive line of power procedure tables, exam tables, seating, lighting, and broad line of durable medical equipment (IV poles, hampers, instrument stands, waste containers, etc.). Our innovative product development methodology uses the "Voice of the Customer" foundation to ensure our customer's needs are met with each new product we introduce.
Brewer Design is comprised of two divisions; Distribution and OEM. The Distribution Division manufactures highly engineered ergonomic seating products for the dental, optical, and industrial markets. The OEM Division provides custom upholstery and seating solutions for healthcare manufacturers worldwide.
Today, we continue to focus on the needs of the people on the front lines of healthcare which has and will be the foundation of our success.
